No RTS game developed by Westwood in the 90's had proper balancing, one faction was always vastly superious and thus was played by everybody (the first game to ever have a kind of "reasonable" balance being Tiberian Sun) but it was acceptable during a time where gaming wasn't a multi-million Dollar industry and games were much less polished than they are today. Back in 1995 I could excuse C&C's problems. I'm not saying the balancing has to be spot-on perfect but devs should at least make an effort. Still, none of this should bother you since it's fun to accept the developer's inability to create a semi-decent balanced game and find a way to win as Nod against next to impossible odds, right? The only real advantage Nod had in the first C&C were Stealth tanks (they were undetectable at the time) but literally nothing else. You have to play the game with patch 1.9 - the download contains no other patches' files. This is not possible in the download versions (Steam, Origin) though. In the retail version it was possible to start the game in any version you want since patches were cumulative. When I last played the game, I had 4 harvesters for 2 fields. Rocketeers destroy the turrets pretty easily, than the bunkers and I don't even mention the flamer squads which easily survive 2-3 turrets. At what point is that okay.? Some missions are just impossibles, because of this. Yet the GDI Turret, weak, okay damage, constant repair. But it has a center piece, which rarely has to be repaired. NOD has 3 branch, each does big damage against infantry, and costs the same. Still, why can they do that? This makes the turret useless. NOD has a lot of branching and beside each other.

Half of the rocket troopers, (GDI-NOD) stop and start shooting the turret before it can shoot back. I played multiplayer and I had problems with that, some things were just strange, but where the problems most stacked were the Campaign. It's just that many things are buggy, and unplayable because of this. However the last time I played this game, none of these problems existed. My first impression is that this game is hilariously broken and unbalanced. I played with this game when I was younger, with 1.2 (or 1.4) and I finally bought it on Steam.
